Bulletin for Nov 13 2019
Prayer, Pledge and Visitors
President Rick Tarbell opened the meeting with the ringing of the bell.  Past President Fred Timmons provided the prayer and led the pledges.  Vice President John Legris introduced Kris Richter and Linda Trodlier, as well as visiting Rotarian, Past District Governor Jerry Hardy.
Secretary Mary Denton was absent today so Ken Donoughue provided notes about the meeting. Thank you Ken!
 
President Rick provided the club announcements: 
 
  • Happy Hour, Friday Nov 16 at the Flying Saucer at 5:30 p.m.
  • The Coffee Get Together was held on Friday, Nov 8th was held at Alamo Biscuit Company at 8 a.m. An enjoyable time was had by all that attended.
  • Next Coffee will be Friday, Dec 13.
  • The Club Christmas Party will be held on December 7th at the home of Rick & Sally Rhodes. More details to come.
 
Past President Fred Timmons provided some humor.
 
President Rick "Passed the Hat" and informed the Club that proceeds for this month will go to the Vet Strong organization.
 
President Rick announced the National Days and This Day in History.
 
Vice President John Legris introduced our speaker today, Elizabeth Clary and Stefane Montano, both Occupational Therapists and Doctoral Candidates as our speakers for the day.  Ms. Clary is the daughter of member Bil Trodlier and his wife Linda Trodlier.  Elizabeth provided information on ways to remain active and at home as we age. She also provided information on things that can be done in and around the home to avoid falls. She provided two brochures on the subject.
 
Ms. Montano, an Occupational Therapist at Southwest General Hospital provided information on ergonomically positioned work stations and the importance of staying in a position that protects joints and other parts of the body. She also provided information and importance of correct positioning while driving a vehicle. She also provided a handout covering joint protection, workplace workout exercises and conservation of energy.
 
President Rick thanked the ladies and honored their presentations with a book donation to the Locke Hill Elementary Library.
 
The Club thanked Destiny Mujica for the book donation for the month of November.
 
The Club thanked President Rick for the donation of wine for the month of November.
 
Ken Ruiz was absent, so there was no "Umbrella Time" presentation.
 
A number of fines were collected for missing pins and badges.
 
Vice President John Legris provided information on the wine selections for the day.
 
The "Show-Low" pot this week was $1,075.  Allyson Hamlin won the right to select the two of clubs. She was unsuccessful and received a bottle of red wine.
 
Joe Montagna had the winning ticket for a bottle of white wine.
 
President Rick encouraged members to bring a guest to Rotary.  He then closed the meeting with the recital of the "Four Way Test" by the Club members.
